Meet Our Staff

Steve ShottsSteve Shotts
Vice President, Engineering
Steve brings to BFX over 32 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University and an MBA from the University of Houston. At United Texas Transmission Company (UTTCO), Steve worked as an engineer and later as Manager of Construction, where he led several large pipeline construction jobs, the most notable of which was a 30-inch pipeline around the north side of the Houston metro area. He also oversaw the operation of gathering systems in Webb and Zapata Counties, as well as construction of several large compressor stations along UTTCO’s pipelines. Steve went on to serve as Director of Operations for Mitchell Energy, with responsibility for over 4,000 miles of gathering and transmission pipeline and 300 employees. After Mitchell’s acquisition by Devon Energy, Steve remained on board to oversee all midstream assets in West Texas, Oklahoma and Wyoming. During his career, Steve has been involved in numerous acquisitions, divestitures and other consulting projects and is a past chairman of the Texas Gas Association.

Jim WorthamJim Wortham
Vice President, Gas Supply
Jim served as Landman for Mitchell Energy of Houston, working all phases of land work in the Ft. Worth Basin and including what was then the new Barnett Shale formation. His expertise was preparing oil and gas leases, farm outs and joint operating agreements for Mitchell’s projects. Jim was noted as an “expert land witness,” appearing frequently before the Texas Railroad Commission. His responsibilities soon broadened and Mitchell named Jim Senior Gas Supply and Business Development Representative. In this role, Jim negotiated gas purchases from third party producers, allowing him to develop relationships with oil and gas operators all over the state. Upon Devon Energy’s acquisition of Mitchell in 2002, Jim became a forecaster, evaluating economical concerns related to natural gas purchases within Devon’s North Texas pipeline system. Crosstex Energy Services hired Jim in 2006 to lead their acquisition of Barnett Shale assets. He moved to BFX Midstream in 2009 where he serves as Vice President of Gas Supply. Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Texas, and holds an MBA from the University of Houston. He has served on the boards of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, Gas Processors Association of North Texas, and Natural Gas & Electric Power Society of North Texas.
